"Respawn" is the process where a character/player returns after being eliminated. In online games, waiting to respawn can be frustrating — one moment you're fighting, the next you're stuck watching your screen for up to five minutes. To keep players focused during this downtime, we created Duolingo ReXPawn. By linking their Fortnite and Duolingo accounts, players receive notifications after being eliminated, inviting them to complete daily lessons while waiting to respawn. Lesson size adjusts to the remaining wait time. As they complete lessons and learn new languages, the XP earned on Duo also boosts their Battle Pass progress, helping them unlock new items twice as fast.
Duolingo invites Fortnite players to do lessons during respawn waiting times.
In Fortnite, waiting to respawn can take up to 5 minutes — that’s approximately the time it takes to complete a Duolingo lesson.
